In a shocking incident, 86-year-old industrialist Velamati Chandrasekhara Janardhana Rao was brutally stabbed to death by his grandson, allegedly over a property dispute. The Hyderabad-based chairman of Veljan Group was attacked at his residence following a heated argument, police confirmed on Monday.

The accused, 29-year-old Kilaru Keerthi Teja, allegedly confronted his grandfather over the distribution of family assets. Reports indicate that Teja had received ₹4 crore as his share but was unhappy with the division. The argument quickly escalated, leading Teja to stab Rao nearly 70 times in a fit of rage.
During the attack, Teja’s mother, Sarojini Devi, attempted to intervene but sustained injuries. She was immediately rushed to a hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment. Teja, who had recently returned to Hyderabad after completing his master's degree in the United States, was visiting Rao’s residence with his mother when the tragic altercation occurred.
Police have arrested Teja and launched a detailed investigation into the incident.
Janardhana Rao was a highly respected industrialist and philanthropist, known for his contributions to shipbuilding, energy, and industrial applications. His sudden and brutal demise has sent shockwaves through the business community, leaving many mourning the loss of a visionary leader.
