  • Youngsters gathered near the Ambedkar statue with “Long live Palestine” placards
  • Mosques proclaimed the significance of the Masjid al-Aqsa in Jerusalem
  • Security was amped up outside the Charminar

Mosques across the city of Hyderabad made prayers asking for divine intervention to end the conflict between Israel and Palestine on 13th October. The mosques proclaimed the significance of the Masjid al-Aqsa in Jerusalem.

In the Raj Bhavan road of the city, Israel flags were stamped upon. Many youngsters gathered near the Ambedkar statue near the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation headquarters at Tank Bund with “Long live Palestine” and “Gaza will never die” placards. They were however, detained by the police who had prior intimation regarding the demonstration that was being organised. The protestors were shifted to the Saifabad Police Station. “Can't protest about anything in Telangana. Hyderabad Police have detained people protesting against Israel's war on gaza. The shrinking spaces for protests in Telangana is an indication of police authoritarianism in Telangana,” an independent researcher Srinivas Kodali stated in response to the detentions.

Security was amped up outside the Charminar in anticipation of protests. However, none fructified.
