The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and the Tata Group have joined forces to establish the Tata IISc Medical School on IISc’s Bengaluru campus. The collaboration, sealed through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed this week, includes a ₹500 crore investment from the Tata Group.

The initiative aims to revolutionize medical education and research in India by combining clinical practice with advanced scientific innovation. The Tata IISc Medical School will introduce unique programmes, including MD-PhDs and dual-degree options, to develop healthcare professionals proficient in both research and clinical expertise.
Focusing on key areas such as oncology, cardiology, neurology, nephrology, diabetes, infectious diseases, and public health, the school’s curriculum will integrate laboratory research with practical clinical training. This interdisciplinary approach is designed to create a new generation of physician-scientists equipped to tackle the nation’s healthcare challenges.
The Tata IISc Medical School will focus on cutting-edge research and global collaboration, creating a cadre of physician-scientists trained in modern medicine.
