IIT Hyderabad student found dead in hostel room

Mamitha Naik was a first year student of M.Tech in Civil Engineering was found dead in her hostel room after it was found that she was not in the dining hall either for lunch or dinner. Other co-inhabitants of the hostel tried reaching out to her but did not get a response and therefore they contacted and informed the hostel authorities of the same. 

Her family members have alleged that this may be a case of ragging as she did not seem depressed when she last spoke to them. She had apparently also called an old friend from Bhubaneshwar and talked in length about studies and career. 

The police have however recovered a suicide note written in Odia which has mentioned her problems mostly financial in nature which they managed to get translated. The family is however not convinced of its veracity. They are questioning why Mamitha Naik would write an Odia letter worded in English when she could write in Odia. They have refuted the possibility of financial constraints as they claim that she was well provided on that front. 

Mamitha Naik was from a Scheduled Caste (SC) community from the Dumri village located in the Sonapur district of Odisha.
