Bengaluru is bracing for another round of heavy rainfall after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for October 17. The city, already reeling from the effects of torrential downpours, is set to experience more showers over the coming days, with temperatures ranging between 21 and 25 degrees Celsius. The week ahead promises mostly cloudy skies, with varying rainfall intensities, and lighter rain expected on October 18 and 19.

On Tuesday, Bengaluru was paralyzed by intense rain that submerged parts of the city, including key areas like Manyata Tech Park, causing severe traffic disruptions. Over 60 lakes across the city overflowed, flooding low-lying areas like Halasuru, Horamavu, and Nagawara. Major water bodies in Mahadevapura and Yelahanka zones, including the lakes of Gottigere, Madiwala, and Yelahanka, contributed to the waterlogging.
The overflow from Ulsoor Lake’s rajakaluve caused streets in Murphy Town to be submerged under four feet of water. With Bengaluru’s BBMP area housing around 183 lakes, authorities are on high alert for further flooding as more rain is forecast. Residents are urged to stay cautious, especially in flood-prone areas, as the rains are expected to persist through the week, with temperatures ranging from 21 to 28 degrees Celsius.
