In a dramatic turn of events straight out of a movie scene, a thief caught red-handed while stealing electric wires near the DC Circle in Gadag made headlines not just for his crime—but for his audacity. The man, one of three behind a spate of thefts across the city, was intercepted while attempting to steal service wires from the Cotton Mill office. Despite being severely thrashed by angry locals and office staff, the thief remained unfazed, channeling his inner "Pushpa" by defiantly declaring, “Thaggede Illa,” (Won't get bogged down) mimicking the iconic dialogue from the popular film.

The gang had been targeting various locations in Gadag for days, stealing electrical service wires, batteries, and even JCB spare parts. After stripping the wires, they reportedly sold the metal remnants by weight, profiting from the illicit operation. The trio had been evading authorities, but their luck ran out last night.
As two accomplices fled the scene, one of them was caught, roughed up by the crowd, and handed over to the police. His over-the-top attitude even after getting a beating left locals both infuriated and amused.
With rising incidents of theft in the region, including hits on petrol pumps and fan shops, the public has demanded swift police action. Authorities are now intensifying efforts to track down the remaining suspects.
