The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) has entered into strategic agreements with the Government of Karnataka to advance the state’s role as a key player in India’s growing commercial space sector. The Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aim to position Karnataka as the country’s leading launch pad for private space ventures.

As part of the initiative, IN-SPACe will establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for space technologies in Bengaluru. A second MoU was signed to set up a public-private space manufacturing park in collaboration with the state’s Department of Electronics, IT-BT and Science & Technology. This facility will serve as a hub for next-generation satellite and launch vehicle production.
“These MoUs are designed to strengthen Karnataka’s NewSpace ecosystem in alignment with the Indian Space Policy, 2023,” IN-SPACe stated. The agency added that the agreements support its broader objective of integrating regional ambitions with national space goals to foster innovation and self-reliance.
Karnataka Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh welcomed the collaboration, noting that it marks a new era in the state's space journey. “The MoUs will create a seamless talent and value chain, backed by regulatory support, enabling Karnataka to compete on a global scale,” she said.
With these partnerships, Karnataka aims to become a central hub for India's private space sector, reinforcing its legacy in aerospace and technology innovation.
