A tense morning unfolded in parts of Chandigarh on Friday as air raid sirens blared across the city, alerting residents to a potential drone attack. The warning, issued shortly after 6:00 AM, came in the wake of a dramatic night marked by multiple aerial intrusions allegedly launched from across the border.

According to official sources, several drones believed to have originated from Pakistan were detected and successfully intercepted by India’s air defence systems late Thursday night. The attempted incursions triggered heightened security protocols along the northern border regions, prompting coordinated responses from both military and civil authorities.

Though no damage or casualties were reported, officials described the situation as "highly sensitive" and said the air raid warning in Chandigarh was a precautionary measure to ensure public safety. Residents were advised to remain indoors and avoid speculation as security forces conducted thorough sweeps and air surveillance.

This latest escalation comes amid rising tensions in the region, where increased instances of drone-based reconnaissance and payload delivery attempts have sparked concern among defence analysts and policymakers. India’s Ministry of Defence has reiterated its commitment to maintaining territorial integrity and bolstering surveillance infrastructure.

Authorities in Chandigarh said the alert was withdrawn after a comprehensive assessment found no immediate threat. However, security remains tight, and investigations are ongoing to trace the origins and intended targets of the intercepted drones.
