India has booked its spot in the super eights phase of the 2024 International Cricket Council (ICC) T-20 World Cup by registering a comfortable 7-wicket victory over the United States of America (USA) in their Group A fixture on June 12th. This marks India’s third consecutive win in the tournament.

Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh was adjudged the Man of the Match for having picked up 4 wickets in his 4-over spell. He was on a roll right from the first ball of the first innings when he trapped the USA opener Shayan Jahangir Leg Before Wicket (LBW). The USA lost three early wickets but the middle order offered some resistance. Arshdeep was also clinical in the final stages of the USA’s innings wherein he picked up a wicket and controlled the flow of runs.

India got off to a shaky start while chasing a modest target of 111. Indian batsmen Kohli and Rohit Sharma were both out early within the first 3 overs. Indian wicketkeeper Rishab Pant was also out bowled in the eight over. Middle order batsmen Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube however steadied the ship and ensured that India reached home with 10 balls to spare. The match also took Pakistan’s Net Run Rate (NRR) above USA’s. They are therefore in with a chance to qualify for the super eights if USA loses to Ireland.
