After winning the toss, New Zealand opted to bat. A gritty 63 off 101 balls by Daryl Mitchell and a late 53 off 40 by Michael Bracewell powered the Kiwis to 251/7. Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav picked up two wickets each, keeping the target within reach.

India’s chase began with captain Rohit Sharma (76) and Shubman Gill (100-run opening stand in 17 overs). Rohit raced to a 41-ball half-century, but quick wickets—Gill and Virat Kohli departing in succession—slowed the scoring rate. Rohit, attempting an aggressive shot, was stumped off Ravindra, leaving India in a tricky position.

Shreyas Iyer (48 off 62) steadied the innings, while Axar Patel, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, and Ravindra Jadeja guided India home safely.

With this victory, India remained unbeaten in the tournament, adding to their T20 World Cup triumph in June 2024. This historic win reaffirms India’s dominance in global cricket.
