India made history on July 6, 2025, by winning their first-ever Test match at Edgbaston, beating England by a massive 336 runs. This was not just a victory—it was a statement. In eight previous attempts at this venue since 1967, India had never managed a win. With this result, India also became the first Asian team to win a Test match at the famous English ground.

The match saw several record-breaking performances. Shubman Gill, leading India as captain, scored a double century—becoming the first Asian player to do so at Edgbaston—and also became the youngest Indian captain to win a Test abroad. Fast bowler Akash Deep was outstanding with 10 wickets in the match, setting a new record for the best bowling figures by an Indian in England. India also crossed 1,000 runs in the match for the first time in their Test history.

This win not only leveled the series 1-1 but also ended a 58-year drought at one of England’s most challenging venues. Ravindra Jadeja reached a unique milestone as well, becoming the first cricketer to score 2,000 runs and take 100 wickets in the World Test Championship. The win shows India’s growing strength in overseas conditions and marks a major moment in their cricketing journey.
