  • India destroys Pakistan’s HQ-9 and AWACS
  • AWACS was key to Pakistan’s air surveillance
  • India used the S-400 system to shoot it down

In response to Pakistan’s attacks targeting multiple Indian cities, India has launched strong counter-attacks on key Pakistani cities, including Karachi, Sialkot, and Lahore. These strikes have severely damaged Pakistan’s defense infrastructure.

Earlier, India had destroyed the HQ-9 air defense system located in Lahore. Now, the Indian Armed Forces have taken out another critical component of Pakistan’s air surveillance-the AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control System). This back-to-back destruction at HQ-9 and now AWACS marks a significant blow to Pakistan’s air defense capabilities.

AWACS is not just a defense system but a special type of aircraft equipped with advanced radar technology. It can detect enemy aircraft, drones, and missiles from long distances. Its radar also monitors ground activities and provides precise real-time data on enemy positions and movements to fighter jets, making it a crucial element during wartime.

The main weakness of AWACS is its size. It’s large, relatively slow and lacks the agility of combat jets. Because of this, it can be targeted using long-range missiles. India effectively used its S-400 air defense system to shoot down Pakistan’s AWACS. With this loss, Pakistan’s ability to conduct coordinated aerial attacks has taken a significant hit.
