Firstly, work is progressing on an extended-range BrahMos missile that will significantly boost its strike capabilities. This new version is expected to have a range of up to 800 kilometres, doubling the reach of earlier variants.

Secondly, India is preparing to re-test a submarine-launched version of the BrahMos. Once validated, this variant is likely to be deployed on submarines developed under India’s Project 75I, providing vital underwater strike capability.

In the aerospace domain, efforts are underway to develop a lighter and more compact BrahMos missile. This scaled-down version will be suitable for deployment on aircraft like the Rafale and other frontline fighters, increasing their tactical flexibility.

Additionally, a next-generation hypersonic BrahMos is in development. This version aims to exceed current speeds, offering enhanced penetration against modern air defense systems.

Lastly, on the export front, India has already supplied BrahMos missiles to the Philippines and is engaging with several other countries. Nations in Southeast Asia, such as Vietnam, and in the Middle East, have reportedly shown strong interest, marking a significant step forward in India’s defence diplomacy.
