India beat Pakistan in Colombo with the biggest margin ever, propelled by fabulous centuries by Virat Kohli and KL Rahul. Their partnership lasted 233 runs and is the highest for India for the 3rd wicket.
At the top spot is the 237-run partnership between Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar in the 1999 World Cup against Kenya.
Incidentally, this has been the 10th occasion when India has managed to stitch a partnership of more than 200 runs for the 3rd wicket. India has emerged victorious on all occasions.
Interestingly, Kohli has featured in 6 such occasions with partners ranging from Gambhir, Sehwag, Rahane apart from KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma. He has won the Man of the Match on 3 such occasions including India’s encounter against Pakistan on September 11th.
While Kohli features most of the time, what is notable is Rohit Sharma’s highest-ever ODI score of 264 runs when Kohli was at the other end. They had stitched a 202-run partnership.
