Chetan Ahimsa received mixed reactions for his opinion

Actor Chetan Ahimsa known to give his opinion on all political matters and often leading to controversy has opined about  Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s solidarity to Israel. “Massive violence & fatalities in Israel as Palestinian Hamas launches 5000 rockets & Israel retaliates. PM Modi expresses solidarity with Israel. Israel is a settler colony built on stolen land India must question atrocities of Israel-US establishment & stand for Palestinian justice,” he posted on X. 

He however condemned the attack on civilians and women by Hamas. “While Palestinian justice is a must, cases of Palestinian Hamas parading dead Israeli women’s bodies naked is horrifying. Women’s bodies are always collateral battlegrounds for men’s wars of aggression. Such war crimes remind us humiliation often supersedes justice in such conflicts,” he stated in another post.

Chetan Kumar Ahimsa had also shared an infographic comparing the casualties in Israel and Palestine from 2008 to 2020 by Statista that had cited United Nations as its source. The data indicated that 5590 lives were lost in Palestine whereas 251 lives were lost in Israel as a result of this conflict. The number of injured people in Palestine stood at 120,106 whereas in the case of Israel the number was 5887. 

He received mixed reactions for his opinion. “Is Israel “occupying” Palestinian territory? There never has been in all of recorded history, a sovereign state by the name of Palestine.” a user remarked.
