In a significant move to bolster national preparedness, the Union Home Ministry has announced a nationwide defence mock drill scheduled for tomorrow at 4 PM under the code name Operation Abhyas. Mock Drill in 3 Parts of the State

The drill will be limited to Civil Defence personnel, with supporting participation from Home Guards, NCC, and NSS students. The exercise is structured to test emergency response systems and enhance public awareness on how to react in the event of a war-like scenario.

Siren in Three Ways!

During the drill, three distinct sirens will be sounded to simulate a wartime situation:

  • The first siren will serve as an alert of an impending attack.
  • The second siren will indicate that the attack is underway.
  • The third siren will signal that the threat has subsided and normalcy is restored.

Civil Defence officials stated that the public will also receive guidelines on appropriate responses when each siren is heard.

What Will the Mock War Drill Be Like?

  1. Warning Siren
Simulated alerts will be issued for potential airstrikes in sensitive zones, replicating real-time emergency communication.
  2. Self-Defense Training
The drill aims to instill basic survival skills in civilians, particularly the youth who have not experienced war conditions.
  3. Power Off at Night
As part of blackout training, electricity will be switched off in specific areas to simulate conditions during airstrikes, preventing enemy surveillance.
  4. Concealment of Vital Infrastructure
Information on safeguarding key installations will be shared, emphasizing national asset protection strategies.
  5. Evacuation Drill
Practice sessions will include simulated rescue operations from difficult terrains to prepare teams for real-life evacuations.

The nationwide exercise marks a proactive step toward strengthening civil defence and fostering public resilience in times of conflict.
