  • Yashasvi Jaiswal gets to maiden T20 century
  • Sai Kishore makes debut for India
  • Rinku Singh's flurry in final overs proves decisive

India won the toss and opted to bat first against Nepal. Yashasvi Jaiswal impressed right from the onset and eventually also broke the record for the youngest Indian to score a T20 century at 21 years 9 months and 13 days. The record was earlier held by Shubman Gill who achieved the feat in 23 years 4 months and 22 days.

However the other batsmen apart from Rinku Singh did not have much impact. Rinku Singh provided a much needed acceleration in the last leg of the innings. His 15-ball 37 propelled India’s score to 202.

In the 2nd innings as well, despite a regular flow of wickets, the Nepal batsmen posed quite a few challenges to Indian bowlers. Aggressive batting in the middle order provided a few scares in India’s journey to victory. Arshdeep Singh, Shivam Dube and Washington Sundar had an economy of 10.75, 12.33 and 11 respectively.

However, 3 wickets each by Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi proved decisive and with the tail of Nepal having been exposed, India managed a 23-run victory.

Earlier, Sai Kishore made his debut for India and had an impressive bowling spell with a miserly economy of 6.25. He was teary eyed when the National anthem played ahead of the game.
