Following the effective deployment of the Russian-made S-400 air defence systems during Operation Sindoor, India has officially requested additional units from Russia, according to top defence sources. The S-400s, already in use by the Indian armed forces, proved to be a vital asset in intercepting and neutralizing incoming missiles and drones launched by Pakistan during the recent hostilities.

Officials involved in the operation reported that the systems performed with high precision, successfully countering a range of aerial threats from the western front. Their performance during the conflict has reinforced India’s trust in the platform and prompted the move to enhance its air defence network.
India refers to the S-400 system as the 'Sudarshan Chakra,' underlining its strategic significance. This highly advanced system can track targets from as far as 600 kilometers and intercept them at ranges up to 400 kilometers, offering India a significant edge in long-range air defence. Sources have hinted that Russia is expected to approve India’s request soon, further strengthening bilateral defence ties.
