Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has declared that India on track to lead the world in 6G technology, highlighting the country’s rapid digital transformation. Speaking at Bharat Telecom 2025 on May 6, Scindia emphasized that 99 percent of Indian villages are already connected with 5G in just 22 months, making it one of the fastest 5G deployments globally. He noted that over 43 percent of broadband usage in metro cities now occurs on 5G networks.

Scindia credited major telecom operators for investing nearly $50 billion in 5G infrastructure, contributing to the swift nationwide rollout. He also shared that data consumption in India has surged, with average usage now at 27.5 GB per user, reflecting a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 19.5 percent over the last five years.

To further enhance digital access, the government is planning a $4billion investment to achieve 100 percent broadband saturation in all villages. Scindia said India’s digital success is a result of clear policy, purposeful action, and people-centric governance inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s forward-thinking vision.

He also highlighted India’s growing prominence in global tech manufacturing, citing Apple’s increasing plans to source iPhones from India. “India is not just part of the digital revolution , we are leading and shaping it,” he concluded.
