The quarter final stage of the men’s cricketing event in Asian Games will commence starting tomorrow. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh have secured a direct entry into the quarter final stage.
Nepal defeated Mongolia by 273 runs and broke multiple records in one of its group stage matches. The fastest ever 50 in T20 cricket was achieved in that game in just 9 balls. This was also the first occasion when a team had managed to exceed a score of 300 in international T20s. Nepal also defeated Maldives by 138 runs in their other game in the group stage and finished in the top position in their group. They would face India on October 3rd in the first quarter final of the event.
India would be led by Rituraj Gaikwad in the inaugural cricketing event in Asian games. The team consists primarily of youngsters with the experienced players being involved in the preparation for the world cup that is set to commence on October 5th in India. The group stages proved that the short boundaries and flat wickets made way for good batting performances and India would have been observing the proceedings to plan accordingly.
