Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh after inaugurating the Annual Conference of Indian Academy of Otorhinolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery said “India has taken a lead in last nine years in the areas of Preventive Healthcare, Physical Healthcare and Integrated Healthcare, also being recognised as the top medical tourism destination in the world.”
The government has made best efforts to end Urban-Rural divide in healthcare and initiatives like Doctors on Wheels is the best example that vouch such efforts.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pet project Ayushman Bharat, by the Government of India is a national public health insurance scheme for low income people in the coutry, is among the world’s best health insurance schemes.
In the last 9 years of the Modi government, there have been many path breaking healthcare reforms that have led India to becoming a cost effective medical destination in the world.
The number of medical colleges in the country has gone up from mere 145 to 260 and the number of AIIMS has increased to 16 in the country during Modi government.
