  • Fixture clashes with Navarathri
  • Police may find it difficult to arrange for security
  • Decision to be taken on 27th July

The world cup fixture between India and Pakistan was scheduled to be held on October 15th in the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The date also coincides with the birthday of Babar Azam, captain and ace batting star of the Pakistan cricket team. It also happens to be the first day of the Navaratri festival, which is celebrated with much zeal across the country but also particularly with much anticipation in the state of Gujarat where the match is scheduled to take place. This makes the task of making security arrangements all the more difficult. The Ahmedabad police have conveyed this to the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India). The ultimate decision with regard to this will be taken on July 27th when the BCCI has scheduled a meeting with all state associations for cricket. Reports estimate the game to be shifted to the previous day on 14th October.

The 2 cricketing giants, India and Pakistan have only been playing against each in multi team tournaments. But when they do, it has been thoroughly engrossing. The last time they clashed in the T20 world cup held in Australia in 2022, a viewership record of 1.8 Crore was reached.
