Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, addressing Indian Army personnel at Badami Bagh Cantonment in Srinagar, asserted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India has adopted a decisive stance against terrorism. “Any attack on Indian soil will now be treated as an act of war,” he declared.

Singh underlined that India remains committed to peace but will not hesitate to retaliate if its sovereignty is challenged. He warned that Pakistan’s continued support for terrorism will incur a heavier price, and urged Islamabad to dismantle terror infrastructure operating from its territory.

Highlighting Pakistan’s repeated nuclear threats, the Defence Minister said such intimidation has failed to shake India’s resolve to eliminate terrorism. He called for international oversight, urging the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to monitor Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal given its irresponsible rhetoric.

"Terrorism and talks cannot go hand in hand,” Singh added, clarifying that any future dialogue with Pakistan will be solely focused on terrorism and the issue of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

The Defence Minister’s remarks come amid heightened tensions along the Line of Control and recent counter-terror operations in Jammu & Kashmir. His strong message reflects the Centre’s hardened posture in dealing with cross-border threats and signals a zero-tolerance policy towards state-sponsored terrorism.
