In an eagerly awaited development, ‘Indian 2’ is set to hit theaters on July 12, 2024. Renowned music composer Anirudh Ravichander has been entrusted with the film’s soundtrack, replacing the legendary AR Rahman. Director S. Shankar explained the switch was due to Rahman’s prior commitments.

The sequel to the 1996 blockbuster ‘Indian’ will feature a stellar cast, including Kamal Haasan, Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, and SJ Suryah. The original film’s music, crafted by AR Rahman, was instrumental in its success, raising fans’ expectations for Rahman’s return in ‘Indian 2.’ However, the situation called for a change.

In a recent media interaction, Shankar revealed the reasoning behind this unexpected decision. “When we started work on ‘Indian 2,’ AR Rahman was already working on the background music for ‘2.0,’ and I needed the songs soon,” he stated. Recognizing Rahman’s intense workload, Shankar opted not to burden him further and saw an opportunity to collaborate with Anirudh Ravichander, whose music he admired.

Anirudh, known for his popular compositions, has embraced the challenge with great respect for Rahman. “I know the expectations are high given how the sequel comes 28 years after the first film. Rahman sir’s music inspires me,” Anirudh expressed. His reverence for Rahman, combined with his own rising popularity, has garnered positive reception from fans.

As the release date approaches, anticipation builds for ‘Indian 2,’ promising a blend of nostalgia and fresh musical innovation under Anirudh’s direction.
