In a powerful counter-strike following the Pahalgam terror attack, the Indian Army launched Operation Sindhoor on the night of May 7, targeting terror hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The operation reportedly led to the death of five top terrorist leaders affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).

Here's a look at the profiles of those neutralized:

  1. Mudassir Khadiyan Khas @ Mudassir
Mudassir, a senior commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba, was among those killed in the Indian strike. In Pakistan, his funeral was given military honors, with tributes paid by Pakistan Army officers on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff and Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz. His public funeral was also attended by top officials, including a Lieutenant General and the Inspector General of Punjab Police.
  2. Hafiz Muhammad Jameel
Hafiz Jameel, a key figure in Jaish-e-Mohammed and brother-in-law of Maulana Masood Azhar, was also eliminated. He was deeply involved in radicalizing youth and fundraising for JeM, playing an influential role in strengthening the outfit.
  3. Mohammad Yusuf Azhar @ Ustad Ji
Another high-value target, Yusuf Azhar, also related to Masood Azhar, was known for providing arms training and planning attacks in Jammu and Kashmir. He was one of the masterminds wanted in the IC-814 hijacking case and was considered a most-wanted terrorist.
  4. Khalid @ Abu Aakash
Khalid, a Lashkar-e-Taiba operative, played a key role in multiple terror strikes in Jammu and Kashmir. He was also involved in arms smuggling from Afghanistan. His funeral was attended by senior Pakistani military officials and the Deputy Commissioner of Faisalabad.
  5. Mohammad Hasan Khan
Hasan Khan, affiliated with JeM, was the son of Mufti Asghar Khan Kashmiri, the JeM operational commander in PoK. He had a significant role in planning and executing terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir.
