Detective Jake Peralta is a fun-loving yet sharp cop in the show. Now reports suggest that Bollywood actor Kunal may be stepping into this iconic role in the Indian version.

While fans are excited about the possibility, there’s no official announcement yet. The show is said to be produced by Banijay Asia, which earlier adopted Call My Agent for Indian audiences. The remake will reportedly be directed by Rishab Seth.

The team is currently working on the pilot script, adopting the humour, characters, and setting to fit as well into an Indian context.

Online reactions have been mixed. Some fans feel Kunal is a great choice because  of his comic timing, while others are unsure if the show’s essence can be recreated. Some viewers have drawn comparisons to earlier remakes like The Office India, urging the creators to take a fresh approach rather than replicating the original scene by scene.

For now, it remains a project in development. Whether or not Kunal officially joins the cast, audiences are curious to see how this desi twist on a global favourite will turn out.
