India now ranks as the second-largest source of tourists to Malaysia, following China. Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Azmi highlighted the growing air connectivity between the two countries, with Bengaluru operating seven flights a week to Langkawi and Kuala Lumpur.
The Malaysian government’s visa-free policy has further fueled this surge in travel. Currently, Malaysia receives 260 flights per week from India, and recent additions include seven direct flights from Bengaluru to popular destinations. Authorities aim to attract 1.5 million Indian visitors by the end of 2024.
Malaysia tourism officials emphasize the importance of South Indian cities, citing Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Kochi as key markets. They noted that with 84 weekly flights and 12,395 seats available, Malaysia has become an attractive destination for Indian travelers seeking diverse experiences.
Whether for business events, weddings, or family vacations, Malaysia offers something for everyone, adding that the country is eager to showcase its new destinations, cultural experiences, and world-class venues.
With increasing connectivity and strategic tourism initiatives, Malaysia remains a favoured choice for Indian travelers seeking adventure, culture, and luxury.
