The India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA) reported that Apple’s iPhones dominated exports, contributing nearly 70% of the revenue in January. Among Apple’s contract manufacturers, Foxconn led the way, accounting for 33% of the total monthly exports, valued at approximately $960 million. The surge in exports has positioned mobile phones as India’s leading electronics export, with the U.S. emerging as a key market.

Industry experts predict that smartphones are on track to become India’s top export commodity for the first time. This growth has been driven by a strong government-industry partnership, enabling Indian manufacturers to deliver globally competitive products.

As the sector continues its rapid expansion, the focus is now on boosting competitiveness, increasing production, and strengthening the supply chain to achieve India’s ambitious $500 billion electronics manufacturing target. Industry leaders emphasize the need for swift action in response to evolving geopolitical conditions to maintain momentum and secure India’s position as a global smartphone export leader.
