Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated sharply after a high-impact Indian strike reportedly targeted the port city of Karachi. Senior Pakistani journalist Aftab Iqbal publicly acknowledged the scale of destruction, stating that the damage to Karachi was “huge” and unprecedented in recent history.

The strike is widely believed to be part of Operation Sindoor, launched by India in response to the brutal April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 Indian civilians lost their lives. The attack, widely attributed to Pakistan-backed terror outfits, triggered nationwide outrage and a stern warning from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In his recent address to the nation, PM Modi declared that “India will not take it lying down” and emphasized that “trade and terror cannot coexist.” He further warned against nuclear blackmail, asserting that the new Indian response strategy would involve direct punitive action against state-sponsored terrorism.
According to unofficial reports, the Indian strike targeted strategic logistics and supply hubs near Karachi’s port facilities, significantly impacting Pakistan’s maritime infrastructure. While the Pakistani establishment has neither confirmed nor denied the strike, sources suggest the military is on high alert.
With India signaling a new doctrine of assertive retaliation, the Karachi incident marks a major flashpoint, potentially altering the dynamics of South Asian geopolitics.
The international community is watching closely as the situation develops.
