    Data upload speeds, coverage and voice experience are main reasons for satisfaction

A study conducted by Erricsson has suggested that over 31 million users across India could adopt to 5G phones by 2023. “This presents a vast opportunity for further 5G adoption in the country,” Jasmeet Sethi, Head of ConsumerLab, Ericsson Research said in a press meeting disclosing the findings of the report. The study was conducted between May and June 2023 involving interviews with over 37,000 consumers across 28 countries, reflecting the opinions of approximately 1.5 billion consumers, including 650 million 5G users.

 The reasons for 5G network satisfaction include mobile data upload speeds, the extent of 5G outdoor coverage and voice experience mobile upload and download speeds, app experience KPIs like video streaming quality, mobile gaming and video calling experience as per the report. “Further, India’s 5G satisfaction levels and perceived 5G availability match or surpass those in early adopter markets. India boasts a remarkable 13 per cent higher share of very satisfied 5G users compared to the early adopter market average,” Sethi mentioned in the press meet. 

The study also flagged potential concerns experienced 5G users faced including lower levels of satisfaction with mobile upload speeds, consistency of 5G speeds and app experience indicators like mobile gaming and video calling quality. “These areas present both critical challenges and valuable opportunities for service providers to enhance satisfaction levels among these user segments,” the report stated.
