The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squad which would travel to Sri Lanka early next month for the Asia cup. It is as follows. 

Last time around, Dinesh Karthik was part of the squad as the back-up wicket keeper on the back of an impressive performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, he did not perform up to the expectations.Rishabh Pant was also part of the squad. However he is currently recovering from an accident. They have been replaced by Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson. 

Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravi Bishnoi and Yuzvendra Chahal had featured in the squad in the previous edition but they too have not managed to retain their spot as the selectors have placed their trust in Kuldeep Yadav. Furthermore this squad is more batting heavy in comparison with the inclusion of Shreyas Iyer and Tilak Verma with the latter earning his maiden ODI squad inclusion. With Mohammad Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna having found form, Avesh Khan, Deepak Chahar and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar have been replaced in the pace department.
