IndiGo and Bangalore International Airport Ltd. (BIAL) have formalized plans to develop a dedicated Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) facility at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru. As part of the partnership, BIAL will provide 31 acres of land for the project, reinforcing the airport’s role as a growing aviation and aerospace hub.

The move supports IndiGo’s aggressive expansion strategy, which includes scaling up long-haul international services and increasing domestic connectivity. The airline is preparing to operate a fleet exceeding 600 aircraft by 2030, with plans underway for the induction of Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners and Airbus A350s.
The new MRO facility is expected to provide critical infrastructure for IndiGo’s growing fleet, while also contributing to the broader aviation ecosystem in Bengaluru. Both partners are exploring further collaboration in infrastructure, network expansion, and marketing.
IndiGo is expanding its international footprint with non-stop services from Mumbai to Manchester and Amsterdam by July 2025. The airline also intends to add routes to London and Copenhagen later this year. Domestically, IndiGo will grow its network from 91 to 95 destinations, and it will be the first airline to operate from the new Navi Mumbai and Noida International Airports.
As part of its global ambitions, IndiGo has launched business travel services and a loyalty program, BlueChip, which has already enrolled three million members within six months of its debut.
