As geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan intensify, IndiGo has suspended flight operations to ten cities across northern and western India until May 10. The cancellations, in place until 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, affect flights to and from Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Leh, Chandigarh, Dharamshala, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Kishangarh, and Rajkot.

The airline cited increased security measures and precautionary airspace restrictions following recent Pakistani drone and missile activity. IndiGo confirmed that it is monitoring the situation and coordinating closely with relevant authorities. Passengers have been advised to stay informed through official channels for any updates.

The flight suspensions come amid the temporary closure of at least 24 airports near India’s western border. A government-issued Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) outlined heightened threat levels following Pakistan’s recent attacks targeting Jammu, Punjab, and Rajasthan. Indian defence systems successfully intercepted the threats.

Airports in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Rajasthan, and Gujarat are among those affected. Key airports such as Amritsar, Chandigarh, Srinagar, and Leh have halted operations, significantly impacting air travel in the region.

Airlines have urged travelers to arrive at least three hours prior to departure due to heightened airport security. Hundreds of flights across the country have been cancelled or rescheduled as tensions continue to escalate between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.

Passengers are encouraged to check with their airlines for real-time flight information.
