The Government of Pakistan has made an urgent appeal to international partners for additional financial assistance in the wake of mounting economic distress and escalating regional conflict. The official X (formerly Twitter) account of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Economic Affairs Division, issued a statement a couple of hours ago today highlighting the severity of the crisis.
“Govt of Pakistan appeals to International Partners for more loans after heavy losses inflicted by enemy. Amid escalating war and stocks crash, we urge international partners to help de-escalate,” the post read.

The appeal comes as the country reels from the impact of an intensifying military conflict that has reportedly caused significant infrastructure damage, disrupted trade routes, and triggered widespread investor panic. The Pakistan Stock Exchange also saw steep declines in recent sessions, reflecting growing concerns about the economic fallout of the ongoing hostilities.
Government sources indicate that critical sectors — including energy, manufacturing, and agriculture — have been severely affected, with preliminary estimates suggesting billions in losses. The situation has been compounded by escalating conflict with India, existing fiscal pressures and a depreciating currency, leaving the government with limited options to stabilize the economy.
Officials are now seeking urgent financial assistance from international financial institutions, donor countries, and multilateral partners. Islamabad has also called for diplomatic engagement to prevent further escalation and restore regional stability.
The Ministry emphasized that immediate support is vital to avert a broader economic collapse and to protect millions from worsening humanitarian conditions.
