Infosys has launched a new internal campaign aimed at promoting work-life balance among its employees, particularly those working remotely. As part of the initiative, the company’s HR department is monitoring working hours and sending personalized health reminder emails to employees whose average monthly hours exceed the standard 9.15 hours per day, five days a week.

These emails, which include specific data such as days worked remotely and average daily hours, emphasize the importance of disconnecting from work after hours and taking regular breaks. Employees are also encouraged to delegate tasks and speak up if overwhelmed. The messages underline the link between health and sustained professional productivity.

The move follows Infosys’ adoption of a hybrid work model that came into effect on November 20, 2023, mandating employees to work from the office for a minimum of 10 days each month. Since then, HR has been closely tracking remote work patterns to ensure that staff do not overextend themselves.

Infosys, which employs over 323,000 people, has introduced this initiative amid rising concerns about health issues tied to overwork, such as heart-related conditions and sleep disorders. The company says its efforts are not just about compliance but about safeguarding employees’ well-being for long-term success. The campaign marks a notable shift in workplace culture, placing employee health at the forefront.

Interestingly, this move comes in the backdrop of Narayana Murthy urging Indians to work 70 hours a week.
