Instagram stalker slits woman’s relative’s throat on moving bike in Bengaluru’s HAL

In a disturbing incident fueled by one-sided obsession, a man from Tamil Nadu attempted to murder a woman's relative in broad daylight on a moving bike in Bengaluru’s HAL area. The accused, identified as Selva Karthik from Tirupattur district in Tamil Nadu, had reportedly become acquainted with a woman from Bengaluru through Instagram.

Over time, Karthik began harassing her through repeated messages and demands that she enter into a romantic relationship with him. Despite the woman’s disinterest, he continued to pressure her. Feeling unsafe, she informed her father about the persistent harassment but chose not to tell her husband.

On July 17, the woman’s father devised a plan to confront the accused. He invited Karthik to HAL, under the pretext of having a peaceful conversation. After the meeting, Karthik insisted on speaking privately with the woman and convinced one of her relatives, Prashanth, to accompany him on his two-wheeler.

While riding through the area, Karthik suddenly attacked Prashanth with a knife, slashing his throat mid-ride in a shocking act of violence. Prashanth sustained severe injuries and is currently being treated in the ICU.

The HAL police acted swiftly and have arrested Karthik, who is now in custody. Investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of his intentions and whether any further threats exist.
