After two consecutive defeats, CSK is eager to bounce back before their home crowd. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals, riding high after two straight wins, are aiming for a third victory and a strong early lead in the tournament.

In a significant development, MS Dhoni is expected to take charge as CSK captain for today’s match. Current skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad reportedly suffered an elbow injury during practice and may sit out. While an official confirmation is awaited, all signs point toward the legendary Dhoni stepping in.

Batting coach Michael Hussey addressed the uncertainty, stating, “Ruturaj injured his elbow. Whether he plays against Delhi or not is undecided—we'll see how he performs in the nets.” When asked about potential captaincy changes, Hussey quipped, “We haven’t thought much about replacing Tilak Varma as captain… maybe the youngster behind the stumps could do it,” hinting at Dhoni.

Fans at Chepauk could witness the iconic finisher once again leading the yellow brigade—a move that may boost CSK’s morale as they look to return to winning ways.
