After 18 long years of heartbreaks and near misses, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) finally ended their title drought by winning the IPL 2025 trophy, edging out Punjab Kings (PBKS) by just six runs in a high-octane final at Ahmedabad. The win sent fans across Karnataka into raptures as “Ee Sala Cup Namdu” finally became a reality.

PBKS won the toss and chose to bat, but it was RCB who set the tone early with aggressive batting. Virat Kohli anchored the innings with a crucial 43, while the team raced to 50 in just 5.4 overs and crossed the 100-mark in 11.3 overs. Despite a mid-innings slump, they finished with a fighting total of 190/9 in 20 overs.
PBKS’s chase was filled with drama. Shashank Singh lit up the stadium with a blistering 61 off 30 balls, keeping the contest alive until the very end. Josh Inglis (39 off 23) added to the pressure on RCB, but the turning point came when Shreyas Iyer was dismissed for just 1 run — a blow from which Punjab couldn’t recover. They managed 184/8 in their 20 overs.
With this victory, RCB finally shed the "unlucky" tag and claimed their maiden IPL title, completing a fairytale season for the Bengaluru side and their millions of fans.
