As the IPL 2025 season nears its climax, all eyes are on today's clash between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings. Although Chennai has already exited the tournament, the match carries major implications for the points table.

Gujarat Titans, already through to the playoffs, sit comfortably at the top with 16 points. A win today would cement their dominance with 18 points, making their hold on the No. 1 spot even stronger. However, if Gujarat loses, their points tally remains unchanged—giving Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) a golden opportunity.
RCB, currently in contention, will play their final league match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on May 27. A win there could push RCB to 19 points—potentially allowing them to overtake Gujarat, depending on today’s result.
Meanwhile, Punjab Kings are also in the mix. Sitting in second place, a victory over Mumbai Indians would also take them to 19 points and possibly the top spot. Should Punjab triumph, RCB could still secure the second position with a win against LSG. But if Punjab loses, RCB might finish at the top.
The race for the top two positions—crucial for earning two shots at the final—is now a three-way battle between Gujarat Titans, RCB, and Punjab Kings. The outcome of the next two matches will decide who claims the all-important upper hand in the playoffs.
