In a dominant performance, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) bounced back in style to defeat Punjab Kings by 7 wickets in the 37th match of IPL 2025 at the Maharaja Yadvindra Singh International Cricket Stadium. The victory was headlined by a historic milestone from RCB stalwart Virat Kohli, who broke the record for the most 50+ scores in IPL history.

Chasing a modest target of 158 set by Punjab Kings, RCB reached the finish line comfortably at 159/3 in 18.3 overs. Kohli, opening the innings, anchored the chase with an unbeaten 73 off 54 balls, laced with seven boundaries and a six. His composed innings not only sealed the win for RCB but also etched his name in IPL history books. Kohli now holds the record for the most 50+ scores in IPL, surpassing David Warner's 66 with his 67th such knock.
Earlier, Punjab, led by Shreyas Iyer, posted 157/8, a total that proved insufficient against a rejuvenated RCB. Despite Rajat Patidar’s early dismissal for 12, local star Devdutt Padikkal stepped up, notching his first half-century of the season with an aggressive display at No. 3.
Kohli received able support from Jitesh Sharma (11*), as the duo ensured RCB took sweet revenge for their earlier home defeat to Punjab.
With this win, RCB climb up the points table and gain momentum in their playoff push. Kohli’s record-breaking form has provided a timely boost, while questions now loom over Punjab Kings’ consistency as they suffer another setback in their campaign.
