Crunch Time for RCB, Gujarat Titans

As the IPL 2025 resumes on May 17, the race for playoff spots has intensified, with six teams battling for four positions. While Gujarat Titans and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) currently sit comfortably in the top spots, the fight for a top-2 finish remains intense. Gujarat, led by Shubman Gill, has won 8 out of 11 matches and needs just one more win from their upcoming games against Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants, and Chennai Super Kings to confirm playoff qualification. However, to secure a top-2 position, they must win at least two. RCB, currently second, can seal a playoff berth by winning their match in Bengaluru on May 17.

Punjab’s Road Gets Tougher
Punjab Kings, with 15 points from 11 matches, suffered a blow when their crucial game against Delhi was washed out. Now, wins against lower-ranked Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals are essential to secure a playoff spot. Any slip-up could prove costly.

Mumbai and Delhi in Must-Win Scenarios
Mumbai Indians, with 7 wins from 12, must beat both Punjab and Delhi to stay alive. Their playoff hopes could also hinge on other results. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals face Gujarat, Punjab, and Mumbai. A hat-trick of wins might push them through.

Lucknow, Kolkata Hope for Fortune
Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders remain in contention, but their fates depend heavily on net run rate and rival results.

With just 13 league matches left, the IPL’s playoff race promises thrilling drama.
