  • Phil Salt is unlikely to play in today’s IPL match against CSK
  • English cricketer Jacob Bethell most likely to replace Phil Salt
  • Phil Salt is down with illness and remains under medical supervision

In a disappointment to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), star opener Phil Salt is unlikely to play in today’s IPL match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Salt, who has consistently delivered explosive starts alongside Virat Kohli, missed the previous match against Delhi Capitals due to illness and remains under medical supervision.

The RCB franchise fueled speculation earlier today by posting a photo of young English cricketer Jacob Bethell on social media, accompanied by the caption “Everything breaks when Bethell is locked,” hinting at his possible debut. The post has been widely interpreted as confirmation that Salt will sit out the high-stakes encounter.

Kannada commentator Devdutt Padikkal also remarked that Salt had not fully recovered from the fever he contracted during the Delhi match and remains with the medical team. While RCB has not officially ruled him out, the indications are clear.

Today’s match is critical for RCB, who are on a winning streak and have already defeated CSK once this season. Salt’s absence could significantly impact the team’s top-order firepower, especially in a match of such high stakes.

Meanwhile, fans are eager to see whether Bethell can rise to the occasion if given the opportunity to open. All eyes will be on how RCB adapts without one of their key match-winners.
