Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ended their 17-year drought at the Chepauk Stadium with a thrilling victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The long-awaited win marked RCB’s first triumph at CSK’s home ground since the inception of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008.

Overcoming past struggles, RCB delivered a commanding performance, outplaying the five-time champions in a high-stakes encounter. The victory not only broke their Chepauk curse but also boosted their campaign significantly. CSK, known for their fortress-like dominance at home, faced a rare setback as RCB seized control with a clinical display.

Opting to bat first after losing the toss, RCB posted a formidable total of 196/7 in their 20 overs. Captain Rajat Patidar led from the front with a commanding 51 off 32 balls, providing stability in the middle order. The innings concluded with a flourish as Tim David unleashed a late assault, smashing three consecutive sixes in the final over to propel RCB to a competitive score.

In response, CSK's chase faltered early. Josh Hazlewood struck in the first over, dismissing Ruturaj Gaikwad for a duck, setting the tone for RCB's dominance. The top order continued to struggle against RCB's disciplined bowling attack, with wickets falling at regular intervals. Despite a brief resurgence from MS Dhoni, who rolled back the years with back-to-back sixes, CSK couldn't recover. Hazlewood was the standout bowler, claiming three crucial wickets, including that of Ravindra Jadeja.

For CSK, the loss underscores the challenges of maintaining their fortress at home and highlights areas needing improvement as the tournament progresses. The historic win reignites RCB’s momentum in the tournament and sends a strong statement to their rivals.
