The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is all set to resume on May 17 following a temporary suspension due to regional tensions between India and Pakistan. The high-voltage clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru will mark the tournament's return. The final is scheduled for June 3, while venues for the playoff matches are yet to be confirmed.

The league was abruptly halted last week after air raid alerts forced the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match in Dharamsala to be abandoned. In light of the ceasefire announced on Saturday, the BCCI is pushing for a swift resumption and has asked franchises to regroup at their respective home bases by Tuesday.
Due to ongoing security concerns, cities like Dharamsala, Chandigarh, Delhi, Jaipur, and Mumbai are unlikely to host the remaining games. The action will now be concentrated in Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Lucknow.
Currently, Gujarat Titans lead the table with 16 points, slightly ahead of RCB on net run rate. Punjab Kings, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, KKR, and Lucknow Super Giants are still in playoff contention, while CSK, SRH, and Rajasthan Royals have been knocked out.
BCCI is working closely with franchises, broadcasters, sponsors, and the government to finalise the revised schedule and ensure a smooth restart.
