Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) delivered a batting masterclass to defeat Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by 42 runs in a high-octane IPL clash at Lucknow. Opting to bat first after losing the toss, SRH posted a formidable 231/6, riding on Ishan Kishan’s explosive 94 off just 48 deliveries, laced with 7 sixes and 5 boundaries. Abhishek Sharma (34 off 17), Heinrich Klaasen (24 off 13), and Aniket Verma (26 off 9) provided valuable cameos as SRH crossed 100 in just 8.4 overs and reached 200 by the 17.5-over mark.
In response, RCB started strong with Phil Salt hammering 62 off 32 balls, ably supported by Virat Kohli’s 43 from 25. RCB were well-placed at 100 in 8.2 overs but lost momentum after quick dismissals of Rajat Patidar, Jitesh, and Romario Shepherd. Needing 45 from the final over, RCB eventually fell short at 189, handing SRH a crucial win.
Despite the loss, RCB remains third on the table with 17 wins and a net run rate of 0.262. The result further intensifies the playoff race, with both teams showing their credentials as title contenders in this year’s IPL.
