It is understood that Kohli had actively shared inputs with RCB's Director of Cricket, Mo Bobat, during the auction. Insiders suggest that the team even modified their auction strategy to align with Kohli’s recommendations. Despite this, the franchise failed to land Rahul and Siraj, key players Kohli reportedly wanted in the squad.

Adding intrigue to the situation, there is growing speculation that Kohli may return as RCB captain this season, with an official announcement expected soon.

On a broader note, RCB has finalized a 19-player roster for IPL 2025, blending experience with fresh talent. Notable retentions include Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and Yash Dayal, emphasizing stability. Their standout purchase was veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar for ₹10.75 crore, bolstering the bowling attack.

While fans eagerly await Kohli’s potential return as captain, his displeasure over the auction dynamics has sparked questions about the franchise’s internal decision-making. Whether this impacts team morale or fuels a stronger campaign remains to be seen.
