In the wake of escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, nine medical students from Karnataka are currently stranded in Tehran, Iran. These students had traveled to Iran for their medical studies but now find themselves in a precarious situation due to the ongoing conflict.

The students are located in the Jafaraniya area of Tehran, specifically in the Tawfiq Alley. Given the volatile security situation, they have reached out to the Non-Resident Indian (NRI) Forum for assistance. Dr. Arathi Krishnan, the Deputy Chairperson of the NRI Forum, has formally written to the Ministry of External Affairs, urging immediate intervention to facilitate the safe return of these students to India.

The students have also contacted the Indian Embassy in Tehran, seeking urgent help. They have expressed their concerns about the current situation and requested assistance in returning to India as soon as possible.

The stranded students are:

  3. Syed Mohammad Taqi
  4. Mir Asam Reza
  5. Abbas Askari
  6. Syed Mohsin Reza
  7. Maryam Fatima
  8. Dania Ulfat
  9. Abbas Ali

The NRI Forum has emphasized the urgency of the matter, highlighting the need for prompt action to ensure the safety and well-being of these students. The Ministry of External Affairs is expected to coordinate with the Indian Embassy in Tehran to facilitate the students' safe return.
