As missile attacks on Israel from groups like Hamas and Hezbollah intensify, experts warn that Israel may be forced to make difficult decisions about which areas to protect. With over 20,000 rockets and missiles fired at Israel in the past year, and the ongoing war against Iran and its proxies, Israel’s air-defense system is under tremendous strain.

Israel’s arsenal of Arrow 3 missiles, which intercept ballistic missiles such as those used by Iran, is running low. Each Arrow 3 missile costs $2 million, limiting Israel’s ability to intercept every incoming threat. This shortage could lead to the prioritization of key areas like Tel Aviv, leaving less critical regions more vulnerable to missile strikes.

The situation mirrors the tough choices faced by doctors during the Covid pandemic, where limited resources forced prioritization. Former US defence forces confirmed the seriousness of Israel's munitions issue, as reported by The Financial Times.

With rockets and drones continuing to barrage Israel since October 7, experts warn that the country may face a shortage of missiles quickly. It will be forced to prioritise how the missilies are used.
