A low intensity blast took place outside the Israel Embassy in New Delhi on Tuesday. A letter addressed to the Israeli Ambassador that had themes of revenge and a mention of Gaza was retrieved from the spot of the blast. “Today, at 1753 hrs, a PCR call was received conveying the information that a loud noise was heard behind the Israel embassy/Jindal house. Considering the sensitivity of the location and mention of explosion type sound, senior officers rushed to the location. The forensic experts have examined the spot, lifted exhibits that may have evidentiary relevance and they have been sent for examination,” a Delhi Police Spokesperson stated.

The Israeli Embassy has issued a travel advisory to Israeli citizens in India which are more so applicable to those residing in Delhi. This includes an avoidance of a public display of Israeli symbols, restraint in attending large events without proper security measures and prudence in terms of revealing travel details on social media. Eateries specifically catering to westerners and jews have been marked as unsafe. “We can confirm that around 5:48 pm, there was a blast in close proximity to the embassy. Delhi Police and the security team are still investigating the situation,” Israeli Embassy spokesperson Guy Nir said.
