  • Experienced players will help manage the young guys: Faf Du Plessis

From leading the South African squad in the 2019 World Cup to joining the commentary panel in the 2023 World Cup, South African star Faf Du Plessis’ career has had its ups and down. He was most recently seen with the Morrisville Samp Army in the Abu Dhabi T-10 tournament. “I believe that I can return to international cricket as well. We have been speaking about this for the last couple of years. It's just figuring out the balance of the T20 World Cup next year. It's certainly something we have spoken about with the new coach. Watch this space,” he said in a post match presentation.

He also reflected on how the Indian team would recover after the loss in the final against Australia in the World Cup in a media interaction given his own experience of a heartbreaking loss to New Zealand in the 2015 World Cup semifinal. “That is a big challenge, I remember going through a similar experience as a cricketer when we went through the highs and lows of the 2015 World Cup. The heartache that you have to deal with takes a bit of time and it is a bit like breaking up with a girlfriend. You cannot just get over it straight away. It will take a bit of time and time heals everything. Your first series back feels like you are in the middle of nowhere. Obviously there are so many quality players there and some experienced players who I am sure will help manage the young guys well,” he stated.
